AIMS

The aims of the chemistry course at higher level and standard level are to:
• Provide opportunity for scientific study and creativity
• Develop an ability to analyse, evaluate and synthesise scientific information.
• Enable students to apply and use a body of knowledge, methods and techniques which characterize science and technology
• Encourage students’ development as independent learners
• Develop experimental and investigative skills
• Raise awareness of the moral, ethical, social, economic and environmental implications of using science and technology.


OBJECTIVES


Having followed the Diploma Programme course in chemistry, candidates will be expected to:

1. demonstrate an understanding of scientific facts and concepts
2. apply and use scientific facts, concepts and techniques
3. analyse and evaluate hypothesis, research questions and predictions
4. evaluate scientific methods and techniques.
