Life in the IB is not all lab work, intellectual discussion and academic rigour. The Creativity, Action and Service (CAS) subject requires students to generate 150 hours of Creativity (50), Action ( 50 ) and Service (50 ). Through CAS, students put into practice the qualities and abilities which have been promoted during the course.
The projects are extremely varied and generally students generated. There are eco and green projects, a vast amount of theatre and drama, cooking, a great deal of caring, sport, artistic pursuits, community work and a massive amount of action!!!! Students plan their projects with supervision and often include visits and visiting across continents. Recently IB Diploma students hosted school visits from South Africa and a sister IB school in the British Isles.
Students put into practice the Mission Statement of the IB which is to promote "… intercultural understanding and respect” more importantly, young people are encouraged to be “… active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right."
