Mr.Djohann Iskandar Kwan AbdullahSri KDU Primary School
Dear Sri KDU Primary School Families,
Firstly, I warmly welcome all parents and children into our expanding family. As always, to everyone, old and new, my teachers and I look forward to forging stronger and lasting relationships with you to support our children. The many changes in the school which have occurred in the last few years have been exciting and invigorating and we are eagerly looking forward to a world of more possibilities in the coming years.
It was more than a quarter of a century ago when I started my journey as an educator. Even then, I had always envisioned myself moulding and shaping the future generations into life-long learners with curious minds, who were starving for the vast knowledge this world has to offer. This hope is still very much intact as I helm this wonderful school which envisions itself as the source of inspiration and well-rounded education.
It is an honour indeed to be a part of the school community both as an administrator and a parent. Sri KDU® is a place where students try their best to succeed at particularly high levels. Families' involvement too provides a perfect setting for children to grow and bloom. One of our main goals is to serve and nurture all our students to be the best they can be.
The commitment to forming well-rounded young individuals who are intellectually and spiritually competent, loving, compassionate and steadfast in doing justice and always open to progress has always been the hallmark of a Sri KDU® education. Here, we believe in "Driving Dreams" as the future belongs to those who believe in the power of their dreams. This motto encompasses the very spirit of our school as we view each day as a day full of opportunities – to inspire, learn and achieve.
As a father, I understand how important it is for our children to have a positive school experience. And as the principal and the person accountable for a school, I truly understand that getting good academic results would be the expectation of many parents of the school too. We must realise that a school is not merely a building with classrooms of children in them. A school should not be just about reading, writing and counting. It should be the interaction of many different people with one common focus – educating children to their highest level of ability.
Educating should not just be about learning contents, facts and processes but it should also be about learning how to be successful in life. We must realise that we are the 'dream keepers' for our children. And together, we are the ones who will be responsible for helping them dream big dreams and helping them ensure those dreams become a reality.
A well-rounded education is truly vital and cannot be stressed enough. We try our utmost to make nurturing well-rounded individuals our core business and mission. My faith is confirmed as I observe the growth and development of our children, who are slowly but surely turning into people we desire them to be. For this, I would like to thank you for sharing your children. They are truly a gift to us. It is important that teachers, parents and students become partners in this journey that we have embarked upon. It is essential that all of us come to school every day happy and ready to give our best. A positive attitude will definitely enable us to become problem solvers in a fun nurturing environment.
Through a positive school experience, we are committed to forming well-rounded young individuals who are intellectually and spiritually competent, loving, compassionate; steadfast in doing justice and always open to progress. This has always been, and will always be, the hallmark of a Sri KDU® education.
We will continue with our mission in "Driving Dreams" and also continue to look for ways and opportunities to inspire our children – for them to continue learning and achieving. As 'dream keepers', let's stay committed and work together to help our children dream as big as they can and to ensure those dreams become a reality – to be successful in whatever they choose to do.
Keep dreaming big, Sri KDU®ians!
