Our aspirational target is to get students to understand and appreciate the benefits of physical activity for health and well-being. Throughout the year levels, we develop knowledge and understanding of the theory underpinning physical performance.
We coach students to perform a range of physical activities, to develop skills and techniques, to use tactics and strategies, in sports and games.
Our curriculum encompasses the whole spectrum of physical activity. It is designed to meet the needs of all individuals with a focus on progress across all key stages. Students participate in a variety of activities from football to dance, handball to swimming. The curriculum draws on the strengths of the teachers within the department and our aim is to ensure that all students are capable of achieving an A* in their practical assessment for the IGCSE PE course should they select this as an option.
We have a talented group of teachers who constantly deliver lessons of high quality who have established a comprehensive programme of extra-curricular activities to engage students.
We develop teachers to have a growth mind-set and constantly look for ways to develop our practices. We regularly attend training, both internally and externally; as well as review our performance through rigorous quality assurance procedures.
